Oil & Gas UK ranks companies' compliance with the Supply Chain Code of Practice
| Date: | 08 Dec 2009 | | Details: | Oil & Gas UK will today (9 December 2009) announce the first gold, silver and bronze awards attained by major purchasers which adhere to the oil and gas industry's best practice guidelines to improve performance and efficiency. For the first time, the industry's major purchasers amongst the 150 signatories of the supply chain code of practice have been subjected to an in depth analysis of their compliance levels, looking at a variety of factors such as speed of invoice payments, transparency of forward work planning and the use of standardised contracts.
Under the new tiered compliance scheme, purchasing companies can work towards three different award levels; bronze, silver and gold, according to ratings they receive from their suppliers.
Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, said: "The supply chain code of practice is an important tool to help industry improve behaviour, drive waste out of the supply chain and increase efficiency, particularly in these more difficult economic times. However until recently, there has been no means to measure the level of compliance with the code. Therefore, at the end of last year, Oil & Gas UK, in conjunction with FPAL, introduced this ranking system.
"It is encouraging to see such a high take up of this new system. There are almost 40 major purchasing organisations amongst the code signatories and 23 of these have already attained award level ratings in the first year of the scheme, with almost 70% of these having achieved a commendable gold standard. Companies being awarded this highest level of compliance rating are Aker Solutions, AMEC, BG Group, Bibby Offshore, Chevron North Sea Limited, Fairfield Energy, Halliburton, Nexen, Petrofac, PSN, Shell U.K. Limited, Subsea 7, Talisman Energy (UK) Limited, Technip, Total E&P UK Limited and Wood Group Engineering. Apache North Sea Limited, BP and Centrica Energy have achieved silver level and AGR Peak Well Management Limited, ConocoPhillips, Marathon Oil and Petro-Canada have been awarded bronze level.
"These awards are a testament to the many practitioners across the industry who champion the supply chain code and its principles within their respective organisations. We hope that the publication of these achievements will help improve the efficacy of the code and encourage other companies to achieve these high levels of attainment." | | Contact: | For further information, please contact Britta Hallbauer on 01224 577331.
